Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Installation Services
EVs are only getting more popular, so if you own one, you’re going to need somewhere that’s convenient for you to charge it – sure, you can always just charge your car in a public spot, but no one wants to leave their car away from them unattended when you can simply just get an EV charger installed in your garage or on your driveway.
At Hurlburt, we’ve been providing families and businesses with electrical services since 1959, so when electric vehicles started becoming more commonplace throughout the 2000s we naturally adapted our services to accommodate them, too.
Our team of expert electricians offer reputable electric vehicle (EV) charger installation services for homeowners in West Central Wisconsin and Minnesota. Our professionals will have an EV charger up and running within just a few hours, so whether you need a Tesla car charger or you own some other kind of EV, look no further than our team for an affordable solution.
What Are Electric Vehicle Chargers?
These are the devices that you’ll use to recharge your EV’s battery – you’ve probably seen them dotted around your city before as you obviously can’t go to a normal gas station to charge something like a Tesla.
That said, the most efficient way of using them is naturally by installing an EV charger in your home, which is not only necessary in some cases since EV chargers can be few and far between in some of the more rural towns but convenient, too – it’s not like you can refuel a regular car in your garage unless you’ve got jerry cans full of gasoline sitting there, so EV cars definitely have an element of conveniency over regular ones.
Are There Any Differences Between EV Chargers?
The three main types of EV chargers are:
- Level 1
- Level 2
- Level 3 (which are also known as DC Fast Chargers)
Level 1 chargers are the most basic chargers you’ll see, these have your standard 120-volt outlet and you’d generally have them included when you go to buy your EV – that said, they’re ridiculously slow, so while they’re the cheapest option out of the three, you’ll understand why when you’re only getting about 2-5 miles of range per hour of charging.
Next is the Level 2 chargers – which are the ones we’d recommend choosing – now these require a 240-volt outlet instead but the difference in speed is absolutely noticeable since they provide 10-60 miles of range per hour.
Finally, you don’t really need to know too much about the Level 3 chargers since you’d generally only find them in commercial settings, never someone’s actual house, but as mentioned earlier, these use direct current (DC) and can add up to a whopping 100 miles of range in as little as 20-30 minutes.
How Long Do EV Chargers Take To Set Up?
The exact time they’re going to take is always going to depend on the type of charger you’re going for, but our electrical experts can be finished installing your EV charger in just a few hours.
Why Should I Install an EV Charger?
Added Convenience: First and foremost, these chargers are just generally a lot more convenient than it is to rely on public charging stations since you can just leave your vehicle on charge overnight without having to worry about where it is or its safety.
Then, in the morning, you can get to wherever you need to be with a full battery – forget about taking a quick detour to the gas station because you were low on fuel.
Cost Efficiency: Gas prices being as high as they are was probably one of the factors that drew you to EVs in the first place, but you’re hardly even saving money if you’re using a public charging station to charge your car.
We’d suggest keeping your EV on charge throughout some of the more off-peak hours (which is usually overnight) since the electricity rates are going to be a lot lower – this way you’ll be spending way less money on your overall charging expenses.
Added Security: As touched on in the previous benefit, you control the environment when you’re charging at home, which means you no longer run the risk of vandalism or theft that unfortunately occurs at public stations.
Furthermore, you know that you’re getting a professional installation when working with Hurlburt, so don’t stress about any electrical hazards that might occur with a poor installation job.
